Fireproof Safe Solutions
A fireproof safe is designed to keep the temperature inside the safe below a certain temperature when the safe is exposed to fire conditions over a long period of time. Typically, you will find a fireproof safe will have multiple layers of fire and heat resistant material and multiple layers of insulation material. The insulating material is designed to expand when heated, keeping the safe sealed and contents inside the safe dry from the harmful effects of water used to put out a fire.
State Of The Art Fire Protection Used
Protecting your valuables from fire damage is just as important as protecting them from theft. Our revolutionary design of multiple layers of fireboard, dead-air space, and state-of-the-art welding techniques has raised the bar in fire protection. Our gun safes have passed rigorous fire-endurance testing with flying colors tested and certified in independent scientific testing facilities. All of our standard safes come with fire protection that starts at 60 minutes in the Fortress Security Brawn and increases to an amazing 125 minutes in the Heritage Safe Ultimate line.
Fireproof Safes Temperature Ratings
A fireproof safe will typically carry a heat/temperature rating. The ratings, measured in hours, tell the amount of time that the safe can be exposed to fire or heated conditions before the temperature inside the safe rises above a certain temperature. To give an example, a 1 hour 350 degree rating would mean that the safe could be exposed to a 1700 degree Fahrenheit fire, without the temperature inside the safe rising above 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature and time would more than likely destroy the important contents of the fireproof safe. For a media safe, the maximum temperature would be 125 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, a media safe will carry a rating for the maximum amount of humidity inside the safe during the test, usually 80% humidity.
Locking Mechanism Options
Something else that you need to take into consideration when choosing a fireproof safe is the type of locking mechanism installed in the unit. You can choose an electronic key lock or mechanical combination lock. Heritage safe offers the very best of both.
