Hunting Spencer

Description: As the story usually goes, my dad and I were out hunting elk. We had been hiking hoping to see something to shoot at, but it was now starting to get dark and nothing. We were just about to turn around and head back to camp when we heard a rustling in the trees nearby. We both grabbed our muzzleloaders and froze. It was coming closer and our hearts were beating faster. This was it. Guns up. The animal stepped out not ten yards in front of us. Nice looking moose huh !

Nice Way To End The Day

Description: A late afternoon hunt during the 2009 rut here in West Texas produced a nice mature 10-point buck. The old German Weatherby chambered in .240 Wby Mag that my dad gave me when I was 13 year old is still my favorite rifle for deer hunting. Beautiful old gun, tough old buck, gorgeous West Texas sunset....it all came together to make a great memory.

First time Dad/Son hunting

Description: As any father does, I love my son! I was SO happy when he said he wanted to go hunting with me! It was the last day of the 2009 season, and we hit the woods in the afternoon. It was cold, and damp, but that made the leaves much quieter than normal. While we didn't see any deer, my boy, with his eagle eyes, spotted two turkeys, a Pileated Woodpecker, and a pack of dogs (a LONG way away). Can't wait to hit the woods this fall, with my new hunt'in buddy! :)

Prong horn hunting with my boys!

Description: I drew a limited entry prong horn tag i had spent lots of time out scouting with my boys and wife months before the hunt. We had been watching this buck every time we went out. My boys would say dad you have to shoot that one he is huge!! In the area we had been scouting he was the biggest we had been seeing, so the the morning of the opener we drove out to the place we had been watching this buck. When all at once my boy says Dad there he is the huge one. So we put a stalk on in by creeping down the bottom of a ditch. it took a lot of time and patience but it paid off well. This was one of many great hunts that we will always remember our trophy from that day now hangs on my boys bedroom wall and i hear them tell the story to all their little buddies. What a great opportunity we all have to share these experiences with our kids and create memories for all of us and to be able to teach them the importance of hunting and being a great sportsman. Thanks

Grin and bear it

Description: It was the first day of rifle season in kansas and I was out in the field taking Jo Ann my girl friend hunting for the second year. She had never shot a deer and the first we not even seen any deer. We were sitting in a blind and around 7:10 a.m. she spotted a deer coming into the cut corn field we were hunting. I could hear the excitement in her voice when she told me it was a doe. She watched it for a minute and then I told her to take the shot. She picked up the rifle and slid it out the window. I could tell she was neverous and she kept moving in her seat trying to see the deer in the scope. The deer noticed the movement and started looking in our direction. She tried to get it but told me she could not see it in the scope and handed me the rifle. I moved to the front of the blind and took aim as the deer was quarting away from me with its right side. I checked the deer out in the scoped four times and it was about 150 yards away. When it finally turned enough I sqeezed off the shot. It ran 30 feet and fell over. Jo Ann told me how awesome it to see in the events take place with her own eyes. We sat for another two hours hoping something else would come into the field. I never saw the antlers but after bow hunting since September 1st this is my second buck ever. I have a nice 8 point that I have pattern picked out for Jo Ann that comes out most nights. Wish her luck!

We had an ice storm on the 18th of December and I believe that this ole' buck sat down in the deep ditch that I kicked him out of from the day of the ice storm until Christmas day. I had the deer mounted with replica ice added to the rack....Turned out real good. Deer scored 166-3/8". A Christmas hunt to remember for life.

Description: i shot this 275 lb boar on fort benning. it was a beautiful clear day and me and a buddy were walking from the truck and as we were breaking over the top of a food plot there he was standing all alone rootin for food. it was a miracle he didnt take notice of us but, while he was rootin i took aim and delivered a puncturing lung shot. he ran no more than 45 feet into the woods and dropped in a ditch right on the woodline. it was the best day in a long time.
